//edit again
Updated with a new photo, also a new spice jar has been added, Red Pepper Flakes! The labels have been changed slightly as well (so the name of the actual product is right there on the front along with it's image, so it has a distinctive front side that could be placed on shelves) :] //

// EDIT
Thanks so much to everyone for the comments and faves! and thanks to `NunoDias for the Daily Deviation! You don't know how much i appreciate it! //

this is the packaging project i did this semester.
i'm like...SUPER proud of it :meow:

the whole thing was based off of www.farmtocity.com
a real company that supplies farmers markets with food/goods from local farms in the philadelphia region. i think other cities have similar programs...and they work along with CSAs (community supported agriculture) companies.

since it's all about farms and bringing it to the city, i was going for the whole weathervane thing from the farm, and applying it in a way that deals with road signage. My color palette is inspired by traffic lights and park sign colors.
The whole point to buying products like these is that they are reusable! If you were to buy these products at a real farmer's market, you could then bring back the containers and get them refilled, or use them for something else all together (ex: the flowers in the milk container!)

Daily Deviation

Given 2010-01-16
- Farm To City - by =JustLikeAnythingElse is so refreshing and at same time so nostalgic. The idea to bring the farm life style to the cities markets through packaging design is phenomenal. The color sheme, the labels, the signs and graphics... each element is related and everything fits so well. Wonderful concept! ( Featured by NunoDias )

Adorable! Some of them wouldn't be very practical - for example the milk can or egg "carton" would probably be far more expensive to produce than the normal packaging - but they're certainly much easier on the eyes.
Reply
:iconjustlikeanythingelse:
yeah that's true, though it could pay itself back in the long run, since it's all meant to be reusable. ( "green" packaging if you will.) so not /everyone/ would be buying another milk can like that every week/month
but then again it is just a student project XD; so it doesn't have to be totally practical lol just conceptual XD;
Thanks so much!

This is fantastic! I love the simplistic and yet effective labeling with the animal/weather vane design! :D I work at a local farmer's market, and our CSA is just getting started. This design is just perfect! :)

WOW - this is AWESOME !

I mean, everything just has that vintage farm feel, and at the same time it's... it's not modern/sleek but it's not like "ol' hillbillies" or anything. I am so impressed.

congratulations, great work, keep it up!

Wow this is amazing! Great job! I love the colour scheme and I love the work it looks like you put into this!

I like the fact that it looks like an old fashioned farm but with a modern twist almost. <3

The concept and its execution turned out so tremendously charming! The logos, as everyone must have noted, are adorable and very brilliant. They have such a lovely friendly look about them that I would certainly give the brand a look-in if I saw it, and I like the tins and the jars that they were used on, everything fits together adorably. I was also particularly charmed by the brochure, but I'm a little dismayed to see that 'agriculture' seems to be spelt wrong - that's a real pity, it distracts a little. But overall, the whole line is just wonderfully pretty. I hope you got a good grade on it!

thank you so much for your comment/feedback! and yes, i know it's a little disappointing about the misspell. But if it's any consolation, i'm redoing/fixing this project for a class this coming semester (to put it in my portfolio) so it'll be fixed then :3 (it's hard not to miss any little things like that when you're working on it well into the night every week, going on little sleep to begin with haha XD;;;; )

It was my pleasure to comment on such a lovely project. That is consoling, actually, that you'll have a corrected piece in your portfolio! [Anyone with experience in these kind of project will indeed understand how it happened, ahah. In restrospect then, good luck for your new semester... ;)]

This just...works really well. I think it was the matching colors in the flower bouquet, or the shiny containers offset by the worn, rusty look of the labels, or maybe the really delightful use of red-yellow-blue-green to give the arrangement some balance...

...or it might just have been the eggs in a tin. :D I want my eggs to come in a tin!

Great job, and congrats on the DD! :highfive:
